KMT
Performance (30,60,90 Minute Sessions)

This session covers the body’s muscular imbalances using soft tissue release, active isolated stretching, myo-fascial release and movement therapies. This session is used to rid the body of painful movement and spasms, incorrect biomechanical movements and chronic injuries/pain associated with muscular imbalances.

KMT (AIR)
Acute Injury Relief (60,90 Minute Sessions)

This session is for athletes pre or post surgery, or for those who have suffered an acute injury.  This session will significantly shorten the required recovery time with deep tissue release techniques.

KMT Relaxation/Recovery (30,60,90 Minute Sessions)

This session is for athletes and parents for post KMT Performance, KMT AIR maintenance or just general relaxation after a long day of work.   What’s better than getting a relaxing Kinetic Muscle Therapy session while your student athlete is working out at ETS?

What is KMT?

KMT stands for Kinetic Muscle Therapy. Kinetic means “with motion”.  KMT helps to muscles function correctly and stay in motion.

How does KMT help improve performance?

KMT helps prepare the athlete for peak performance by reducing muscle tension, promoting flexibility, reduces swelling and inflammation, releasing adhesions within the muscles and postural re-alignment. When the body is free of adhesions and poor muscle mechanics it can perform and train at its highest potential.

Why should people work with a KMT manual muscle therapist?

Every person moves, and how they move is by learned muscle patterns and muscle memory. If the postural balance has ever been even slightly disrupted during the person’s life through accidents, injuries or poor body mechanics, compensations happen. Those compensations can lead to more injuries because the body is being used in an incorrect way. When the muscles are being used incorrectly they become fatigued easily and can strain. When the body recognizes instability, which is caused by muscle weakness (not muscular strength weakness but neuromuscular connection) the body sends messages to the opposing muscles to tighten up in an attempt to protect the joint. When that happens the weak muscle has a hard time contracting and moving properly because when the opposing muscle is tight the opposite muscle must be relaxed (i.e. biceps/triceps). What I aim to do is correct the muscular imbalances to allow the tightened muscle to return to normal so that the opposite muscle can contract and begin the process of strengthen. Proper muscle balance is crucial to optimum performance.

The manual muscle therapist can work with any stage of injury/surgery. Long past are the days of waiting weeks to months to return to play after an injury. With the guidance of a physician’s diagnosis the manual muscle therapist can work almost immediately on most injuries, including strains, sprains, dislocations and surgeries. This type of work is very specific and different with every stage of the injury from immediately after injury/surgery to well into the rehab/recovery stage. Using lymphatic techniques and myofascial work I can promote faster healing and less scar tissue build up. This creates a better outcome to surgery and can reduce the limitations from injuries.

By working together with the highly skilled trainers at ETS the combination Postural correction and Corrective Exercise program can improve an athlete’s muscles ability to learn new tasks quicker, more efficiently and decrease the risk of injury. When the body moves freely and more efficiently the work load can increase faster so the athlete will see results faster. Optimum training time is allowed when there is no missed time because of imbalances in the muscles.

Why should normal non-professional athletes, parents and students get manual muscle therapy at ETS?

When we sit all day at a desk or in school in the same muscular holding pattern all day long and then ask our bodies to react in peak performance during a workout session or sport training the body can become easily injured or build resistance to making gains muscularly, making it harder to reach set performance goals. The typical excused are that one is too old to push themselves to make those muscular goals or that the student just does not have the talent to perform at a peak level. Both of these excuses are wrong and can easily be changed with some postural re-education sessions at ETS. The sessions create new muscle memory so that the body does not get stuck in the typical muscular holding patterns and allows the person to reach their performance goals under the supervision of the ETS trainers.

What techniques are used during the sessions?

Deep myo-fascial release, active isolated stretches, and postural re-education are mainly used to strip the fascia of adhesions, stretch and re-educate the muscles back to a functional posture.

What soft tissue issues/injuries can KMT resolve?

Headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis, arthritis, knee pain, shin splints, ankle strains/sprains/weakness, bunions, fallen arches, carpal tunnel, muscle pulls/strains, bursitis and much more. A high percentage of all injuries are soft tissue related(muscular, fascial and connective tissue) and KMT sessions address all soft tissue injuries. KMT can help prevent many surgeries and can make a big impact on post surgery outcomes. The practitioners at ETS-KMT do not make a diagnosis on any injuries or pain but use assessments to find the original cause of postural imbalances leading to injury.
